This month, the Library Book Discussion Group is participating in the Thoreau Bicentennial Statewide Read organized by The Walden Woods Project. To learn more about the project, visit www.walden.org/bicentennial/read.

The book we will be reading is Thoreau at Walden by John Percellino. All are welcome to join Tuesday, November 21st, at 10:00 am.

In this graphic masterpiece, John Porcellino uses pared-down quotes from Henry David Thoreau’s Walden and illustrates them with simple but evocative drawings to bring the story of Thoreau’s time at Walden Pond to life.

For readers who know Walden intimately, this graphic treatment will provide a vivid new interpretation of Thoreau’s story. For those who have never read (or never completed!) the original, it presents a contemporary look at a few brave words to live by.
