The Anatomy of a Desk: Writing with Thoreau and Emerson
Two iconic desks that played a starring role in America’s literary tradition—the writing-arm Windsor chair of Ralph Waldo Emerson and the green desk of Henry David Thoreau—are on view side by side in this Concord Museum exhibition. Also on view are two newly-crafted reproductions of the desks at which visitors are invited to sit and write. The reproductions are by cabinetmaker Dan Faia of the North Bennet Street School in Boston and are as nearly like the real thing as present technology allows.
On exhibit at the Concord Museum beginning February 10, 2017
