Dr. Ernesto Estrella will teach journal writing workshop.

Participants will learn different journaling techniques alongside listening and mindfulness practices extracted from Thoreau’s Journal. The workshop starts with a two-hour session at Thoreau Farm. In these morning hours we will introduce the Journal and participants will learn skills necessary for impactful journal writing. After a lunch break, we will visit the exhibition “This Ever New Self: Thoreau and His Journal” at the Concord Museum. Following our visit, our journalists will share their impressions of the exhibition and partake in a two-hour creative writing session at the Thoreau Institute.

Founder and director of the Nomadic School of the Senses (NoSoS), Dr. Estrella is a member of the Thoreau Society and a Thoreau scholar and translator. He has served as assistant professor of Contemporary Poetry at Yale University. An author and musician, Dr. Estrella was the executive director of The Voice Observatory, a music and sound-art platform funded by the Senate of Berlin from 2015-16.
